|Shieldhill Country House Hotel|
|Quothquan, Biggar, Lanarkshire, Scotland|
Shieldhill is a castle-type house, parts of which date
back to 1199. Set amongst the rolling hills and farmlands of South Lanarkshire,
it was the home of the Chancellor Family for more than 700 years.
The old keep, the turreted roof and secret staircase preserve the historical atmosphere for guests who are also able to enjoy the comforts of the oak panelled lounge and blazing log fires.
Shieldhill contains sixteen bedrooms, all of which are individually styled and decorated to a high standard. Each room is equipped with private facilities, television and a telephone.
A complimentary glass of sherry awaits guests in their room and a full room service is available.
We also have a magnificent honeymoon suite on two levels. View of rolling hills and River Clyde in the valley. Double Jacuzzi, king sized bed and private bathroom with shower.
|The Chancellor Restaurant in the expert hands
of Head Chef Ashley Gallant, justly deserves the two Rosette distinction
awarded to it by the A.A. The menu uses the best fresh ingredients, including
carefully selected fish, meat, game and vegetables.
The Dining Room dates from the Sixteenth Century and is a room full of character, with carved high ceilings and large windows with panoramic views towards Tinto Hill. The furnishings are to the same high standard with chandeliers, dimmer lighting, old paintings and fireplace carver chairs throughout.
Our aim is to create an atmosphere to compliment the finest food in Lanarkshire. Somewhere to spoil yourself and leave you with memories of wonderful flavours on the tip of your tongue.
