Sample Itinerary. 7 Nights, West to East Tour.


Day 1
Arrive Glasgow Airport. Collect your hired car and travel via Loch Lomond, Inverary and Loch Awe to the fishing & ferry port of Oban for two night stop.
Suggested visits on route. Inverary Castle the family seat of the Duke & Duchess of Argyll. Inverary Jail to get an idea what it was like to be locked up by the Dukes family around the turn of the century. Ben Cruachan Power Station built into the mountain.

Day 2
Take the ferry from Oban to Craignure on the Isle of Mull and drive down to Fionnphort and over on to the Holy Isle of Iona for a visit to this world famous monestry founded in 563 by St Columba. If time allows the town of Tobermory on Mull with it's large fleet of yachts in the Bay is worth a visit. Return to Oban.

Day 3
Depart Oban and travel along Loch Linnhe to Fort William nestling under the UK highest mountain Ben Nevis. Continue up the Great Glen through Fort Augustus and along the shores of Loch Ness up to Inverness for two night stay. Suggested visits on route. Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness and where most of the sightings of the elusive monster are supposed to have taken place. The Loch Ness Monster exhibition in Drumnadrochit after which you can make up your own mind as to the existence of our famous Nessie ?

Day 4
In and around Inverness the Highland Capital with suggested visits to Culloden Battlefield where the supporters of Bonnie Prince Charlie were finally defeated by the army of King George. Nearby Fort George was built in 1748 to keep the Highlanders under control after Culloden and is the finest example of a Military Fortification in Europe. Cawdor Castle near Nairn dates back to 1372. Shakespears 'Macbeth' was the Thane of Cawdor.
Another alternative is to travel north west to the fishing port of Ullapool returning by Gairloch and Loch Maree to Inverness

Day 5
Travel south to Grantown on Spey and follow the Whisky Trail up Glen Spey to Dufftown visiting one of our famous Malt Whisky Distilleries on route. Continue south to Royal Deeside for overnight stay. This will take you down through the Castle Trail and give you a chance to visit one of the famous Castles of Mar.

Day 6
Travel down Royal Deeside, over the Devils Elbow and down Glen Shee to Blairgowrie, continuing to Perth and into Edinburgh for two night stay.

Crathie Church were the Royal Family worship while staying at nearby Balmoral Castle. Glamis Castle where our present Queen Mother was born, or Scone Palace the crowning place of the Kings & Queens of Scotland

Day 7
Enjoy the sights and sounds of Scotlands Capital City.

Day 8
Return your car and depart from home.
